Mr. Tushar A. Dave
Co-Founder and Managing Member
Tushar Dave is a co-founder and Managing Member of NewPath Ventures LLC, a hybrid Indo-US incubator. Prior to this he was a Vice President of Business Development at Broadcom Corporation. In this role Tushar has been instrumental in helping Broadcom enter new market segments through an aggressive acquisition strategy. He has driven several billion-dollar acquisitions for Broadcom in the WAN, Broadband, Cellular, and Wireless market segments. In addition, Tushar has also driven significant strategic relationships with key customers like Cisco, Nortel & others for Broadcom.
Tushar pioneered the concept of a fundamental shift in value addition from companies in India. Tushar created Indo-US companies like Arcus Technology, Inc., Armedia, Inc., and Vengines, Inc. which have been successful as product companies and realized superior valuation as product companies as compared to service companies. Premier companies in the US have successfully acquired each of these companies.
Tushar founded Armedia, Inc. in February, 1997 with a vision to establish Armedia as a leading provider of Digital TV solutions. Armedia structured the core marketing, architecture and customer support groups in the US backed by a world-class engineering team in India, resulting in a highly optimized execution engine. Armedia implemented in less than $1m what equivalent companies in US took over $25m. As Chairman, President and CEO, he delivered high quality HDTV solutions for several Japanese companies. Broadcom acquired Armedia in a trend setting historic price of over $100m. -A first, making many Indian employees a millionaire.
Prior to Armedia, Tushar was a co-founder and Chairman, President and CEO of Arcus Technology, Inc. Arucs was set up with a vision to develop and manufacture state-of-the-art communication products in India. Tushar successfully convinced VLSI Technology (USA) to be the investor as well as the technology provider. As a part of this thrust, Tushar was responsible for entering into relationship with Department of Electronics to set up a network of VLSI design centers in India. Arcus was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor for its strong communication products and technology for over $20m.
Prior to the formation of Arcus, Tushar was Strategic Marketing Manager at VLSI Technology, Inc. He was responsible for the definition and marketing of advanced ASIC software and silicon products. Tushar was also member of Corporate Strategic Team, responsible for long term strategy relationships with large customers and partners such as IBM, DEC, Philips, Mitsubishi, and Hitachi.
Prior to VLSI, Tushar was Design Engineer at Intel Corporation in the advanced processor development group. He participated in design and debug of a 32 bit microprocessor. Tushar received his Masters of Science in computer engineering from Syracuse University in 1981. He has a Bachelors of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Bombay University. |
